I’M A Celebrity star Andrew Maxwell looks worlds apart from his jungle jaunt after growing a bushy beard.
The new facial hair gives the Irish comic, 48, the worldly air of a man able to handle himself in the Aussie wilderness.
Andrew Maxwell starred in I’m A Celebrity in 2019[/caption]And he’s certainly better qualified than most having spent two weeks in the jungle back in 2019.
Not only did he have to contend with no home comforts and creepy crawlies at every turn, but he was confronted with a prickly Ian Wright too.
In fact the former sportsman’s behaviour towards Andrew was so abrasive that it led to Ofcom complaints and bullying accusations.
Fortunately other campmates such as James Haskell, Caitlynn Jenner and Kate Garraway were on hand to pick him up.
Among Ian’s gripes was Andrew napping instead of washing up after a trial and breaking a camp rule by serving himself dinner.
Andrew’s wife Suraya El-Wakil handled the whole situation diplomatically and insisted the two men were good friends outside of the show.
She said at the time: “They’ve met before and they’re friends. You put anyone in that environment and you’re going to have disagreements.
“It’s an intense environment but I think they’ll be absolutely fine.”
Suraya added: “I will be the first to tell you he is not easy to live with like not doing the dishes after dinner.
“It has been hard to see him struggle at times. It’s a really tough environment and people have their ups and downs. He is only human and he is exhausted.
“He has good days and bad days and it hard not to be there to support him but he is doing well.”
Father-of-three Andrew looks to be doing well now, running the Eejits of the World podcast with his Canadian comic pal Glenn Wool.
